logoConfluencePNGEarly in my experience working in a company that uses Atlassian Confluence, I had many experiences in which people asked me about a work subject, and I would respond, “I didn’t hear that. I don’t think I got that email.” To which the other person would reply, “What email? There was a blog post on Confluence. Did you see it?”

I had not seen it. It did not even occur to me to look at the blog posts? Employee internal blog posts? Huh? Where’s the email? Shouldn’t people send me an email if they want me to know something? It was frustrating always being the last to know. Finally, I asked for help.

Charles Pham, a leader on our sales team, gave me a simple tip that changed the way I stay informed at ServiceRocket. He told me to change a single setting in my Confluence profile so I receive an email alert every time a new blog post is published on our intranet.

Brilliant!

Now I am informed about company projects and activities as they occur. This has made a huge difference in my effectiveness at work. You should do it too. Let me show you how a simple change of settings is one of my favorite confluence tips.

How to Set Email Notifications in Confluence

confluence profileHere’s what you need to do to set notifications to be informed of new blog posts as they are published.

  1. Click on your Profile Picture in the upper right-hand column of your Confluence home page

  2. Click Profile

  3. On your profile page, click Settings along to top of the page

  4. Click Email along the right-hand side of the page

  5. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click the Edit button

  6. Select the checkbox next to “Subscribe to all blog posts”

Finally, you just scroll down to the bottom of the page and click Submit.

That’s all there is to it. Now you can stay informed about any major activity or work project at your company.

Thanks for the tip Charles!
