Rob Castaneda was in that large conference room for over an hour. Standing, talking, and writing all over that whiteboard. Yes. That whiteboard. And on that whiteboard were diagrams and workflows and business models that had the prospect wanting more. Much more. The meeting ran long. Throughout the intensity and deep concentration of everyone in the room, no one had caught what was happening.
Not then anyway. Not during the presentation in which Rob was convinced that if he only had a contract in his hand, the customer would sign it. Not during the presentation that was so good, it was not a presentation at all, but an actual conversation. Not until the very end, when Rob was thanking them for their time and setting up follow-ups, that it was noticed. It was a disaster. And what had happened, in front of everyone's eyes, that no one had noticed, until the end....could have blown the deal.
I believe it is stories like this, and many others more impressive and exhilarating, that landed Rob on the Silicon Valley 40 Under 40 list for 2014.
On behalf of everyone at ServiceRocket, I would like to say "Congratulations" to Rob for making this list. He inspires a motivated team of people all over the world to live by our values, delight customers, and build a great company.
Author note: If I wake up Monday morning, out of a job, it is because I was fired for "tooting Rob's horn." So...further affiant sayeth naught.
