Today, our great friends at Atlassian released version 4.0 of their Enterprise Wiki - Confluence. This new release is a quantum leap forward in online collaboration and usability. After seeing the demos at Atlassian Summit and working with various betas since - we’re excited to now see it released!
Like many customers, we started small with Confluence back in 2003, using it to manage development projects, but it quickly spread to become our intranet, our portal and our center of collaboration for our company. Many users have also followed this pattern.
The new release of Confluence 4.0 hits many of the usability features that non-technical users often see as a barrier in adopting and using new technologies.
Confluence's new updated editor means that users no longer need to become wiki markup and macro experts in order to do their day-to-day job. The new editor also includes table editing and other features such as pasting images directly from a browser and autoformatting that take it to the next level for browser-based editing.
Experienced users haven’t been forgotten either, with new social features making Confluence behave more and more like the social applications standards that have been set by Facebook, Twitter and the like.
Our training team is working hard to update all of the courseware for Atlassian’s latest release, so that training can begin on the new versions when requested. All of the courses are listed on our Training Schedule.
We’re also busy working on the future roadmaps of our popular open source plugins - including Scaffolding and Reporting and you can keep up to date with the progress on our Get Satisfaction community.
The upgrade path is quite easy for those that self-administer – and for those that require assistance with their enterprise deployments, you can work with our support team to assist your upgrade and rollout process.
