How a Game Overtook an Office: The Pajaggle Story

Posted by Bill Cushard on February 12, 2014

For those of us who work full-time, we spend at least a third of our lives at work. And no matter how much we love our work, we all need to take breaks from time to time. At ServiceRocket, we discovered a new way to take breaks.

Pajaggle.

Pajaggle is a race against the clock. In its simplest form, you have one minute to place as many similarly shaped pieces on the board. It is the fastest minute you will ever spend, and it has taken ServiceRocket by storm.

It all started with a simple action of placing the Pajaggle board and timer on an empty table in the office. What has happened, seemingly overnight, is nothing but shocking.

It started innocently enough. A solitary pioneer, Kathy Chavez, our talent generalist extraordinaire, sitting down to play a game.

Then Jesse Miller, our head of products and tools, wanted to see “what the hubbub” was all about. Yes, he really talks like that.

And as predicted, Erin Rand, our COO and reigning ServiceRocket Pajaggle champion (see Leaderboard below), just could not help but come in and start improving the process.

But improvement takes time and deliberate effort, so Erin gets to work.

And Rob just cannot allow Erin’s record score of 28 to stand. So he sits down at the board to begin his new quest.

Most games cause nothing but frustration, which is a wonder to me why we continue the pursuit of higher and higher scores. I guess I just answered my own question.

Despite the long list of successes, failures, and frustrations, we continue to play. You can follow our progress and join the fun.

Here is our leaderboard. The Top 5:

Erin - 28

Rob - 26

Jesse - 26

Kathy - 15

McCabe - 10
