We’ve done it. We’ve updated our Connector for Box and Confluence, and it is back better than ever.
As you may know, our old connector for Box used the old API which has since been deprecated. So we went back to the drawing board and rewrote a new connector from the ground up.
And while we rewrote the connector to use the new Box V2 API (which also includes many improvements and enhancements), we took the time to make it better and more pleasing to use.
Here are some of the changes we made:
- An improved user experience with a better interface
- Larger, clearer, vector-quality icons which will look stunning on a retina display
- Adopted Atlassian Design Guidelines on UX engineering (includes reusing their icons, styles, color scheme and content layout) for a more standardized Confluence look
- The Box file explorer was removed and replaced with an inline search capability for faster and more convenient access to your files
- Box files are no longer sent to the Google Viewer online service to be previewed. Instead, the preview feature is fully integrated in the connector for better file previewing
- The file preview currently supports the following file formats: Word (.doc, .docx), Powerpoint (.ppt, .pptx), Excel (.xls, .xlsx), Adobe (.pdf, psd, ai), Google Docs (.gdoc, .gsheet), Open Office (.odp, .ods, .odt)
- Integrated preview in the {box-document} macro should also work on Internet Explorer 8
It looks really great too! Check out the screenshots below:
